Why did SparkLabs launch SparkBio?
1. Special characteristics of life science and bio industry
Unlike general startups, the bio industry requires numerous regulations, high entry barriers, long market entry periods, and complex verification processes. SparkLabs' existing acceleration model was excellent in the IT, service, and platform fields, but it had limitations in effectively responding to the industrial complexity and regulatory environment unique to the bio industry. As a result, SparkBio, a bio-specialized accelerator with sector-specific expertise and networks, was born.
2. SparkBio’s 5 Core Support Elements
① Academic research and open innovation
Biotech companies need high-quality academic research support and sufficient research funding.
Additionally, it is essential to develop innovative technologies and conduct validation studies through close collaboration with academia, research institutes, and medical institutions.
② Skilled technical personnel
The growth of biotech companies requires the support of skilled professionals with extensive experience in the life sciences and technology industries.
From R&D to commercialization, expert mentoring and technical support are key elements for enhancing corporate competitiveness.
③ Fostering technology-based entrepreneurs
Biotech startups need strategic advice and business model development from experienced technology entrepreneurs to enter the market and scale their businesses.
This enables you to develop and execute effective growth strategies in a rapidly changing market.
④ Initial capital investment
Biotech startups need bold funding in their high-risk early stages.
Stable funding through SparkBio Fund provides a foundation for companies to focus on **research and development (R&D)** and market entry.
⑤ Specialized research infrastructure and experimental facilities
State-of-the-art research equipment and specialized research facilities are essential for biotech companies.
Mediopenlab provides cutting-edge experimental space and advanced research infrastructure at a reasonable cost, supporting efficient research and development for companies.

Introduction to the Korea Health Management Association
The Korea Health Management Association was established in 1964 and has been carrying out various projects with the goal of promoting healthy lives and welfare of the people. The association initially focused on preventing and eradicating parasitic diseases, but over time, its role has expanded widely.
In the early days of its establishment, it laid the foundation by establishing branches nationwide and promulgating the parasitic disease prevention method. Since then, it has carried out various health promotion projects domestically and internationally, and achieved important milestones including the establishment of a medical image information system, joining the WHO Health Promotion Hospital, and opening a parasite museum.
The association has an organizational structure that includes 16 branches across the country, and continues to operate efficiently through various departments such as the Planning and Coordination Headquarters, Operation Management Headquarters, Strategic Business Headquarters, Screening Management Headquarters, and Customer Management Headquarters. In addition, it operates specialized research and testing institutions such as the Medicheck Research Institute and the Central Testing Headquarters. In particular, the Parasite Museum was established to inform the public of the importance of preventing parasitic diseases and to provide a place for health education for the public.
The museum displays various testing equipment, medicines, promotional materials, and parasite specimens used to eradicate parasites, providing information to visitors. The history and activities of the Korea Health Management Association are evidence of the continuous efforts to promote national health. In addition to its role as a health screening center, the association contributes to improving the quality of life of the people as a central organization providing health-related information and research.
